The Fédération Internationale De Volleyball (FIVB)

This year USAV has adopted the FIVB rule set and format. I’ve always appreciated the USAV rule book for its simplicity (try reading NFHS rules for an exercise in verbosity), and I’m sure getting USA rules in line with international standards is a great practice — in the long run.

For now, it makes reading the rule book a headache. Many FIVB rules have USAV “Commentary” notes for the differences, those places where the two are not yet in sync. I found myself reading a rule, only to nonte how it’s different a paragraph later.

One of my recommendations would be this: Highlight the portions of your rule book where USAV rules clarify or modify the FIVB language. That will help you find the correct language more easily when you need it.
